Are you looking for apple preschool theme math activities? Let’s have some fun counting apples with this hands on fall themed math activity!
Here’s how to play.
This is a simple apple activity to use with your toddler or preschooler to encourage counting. It focuses on one to one correspondence and number recognition. Plus your child can even work color recognition if you add green and yellow apples too.
Think of it as a hands on apple worksheet for preschool that they can do again and again!

Counting Apples Busy Bag
You can create a playful counting game for your preschooler with just a few items around your house.
Material needed for Apple Game
- Make a Apple Tree with Colored Paper
- Scissors
- Red objects {we used apple gems from Michael’s made by Ashland} or you could use Apple Erasers, Colorful Apple Buttons or just red ones like these apples or even apple stickers would work too! Other ideas for apples include buttons, pompoms, glass gems, lids, legos etc.
- Printable Number Cards or Black Marker to write numbers 0-10
Directions for Apple Counting Game
1. Cut out the shape of an apple tree with colored paper for the apples to be placed on during the game.
2. Using the Apple Tree, encourage your child to make the apples in the tree match the number card at the top of the pile.
3. Next have your child pull another number from the number cards and count out the apples to make the number.
4. Repeat again and again until they counted out all of the number cards with apples.
BONUS FUN: You can even make your own apple book after you play the game! Just have your child draw an apple tree, write a number or glue on from the number printable below and then draw apples to make the number.
Then use the text I see ___ apples and write in the number on the blank. A quick and easy sight word book for your apple theme activities.
