Polar Bear Biscuits Recipe for Kids

Read Time:1 Minute, 50 Second

Cold weather puts me in the mood for reading and baking! Polar Bear Biscuits combines two of my favorite things to do on a chilly day in one fabulous after school learning adventure.

Kids that cook with books is a hands-on way for parents to encourage reading and cooking (life skills and math) at home.

Polar Bear Biscuits | A Kids that Cook With Books Reading and Cooking Activity

We are on a Polar Bear learning theme this month with my preschooler. Wanting to participate, my grade schooler brought out Polar Bears Past Bedtime, the #12 book in the best-selling middle grade adventure series from her room. We have been reading it together to the little guys – one chapter at a time.

Each book in the series is a mystery that makes YOU feel like you are with Jack and Annie.

The chapter book also has a non-fiction companion book with facts about polar bears. I LOVE that Magic Tree House fans now have these as a resource. I know they have encouraged my daughter to read more non-fiction text.

These newer non-fiction chapter books come highly recommended by parents and teachers. Read reviews here.

How to Make Polar Bear Biscuits

We used a recipe in my absolute favorite cook book of all time. Sorry, I can’t share it with you because it is out of print. Any sweeter cinnamon raisin biscuit recipe will work – like this one.

  1. The kids can measure, pour, and mix the ingredients.
  2. Then cut out the circle shape, then hand shape the ears by tugging the dough outward with your fingers.
  3. Add 2 half raisins for the eyes and one for the nose, pressing down hard in the dough.
  4. Bake as directed.
  5. Serve on a blanket of coconut snow.

Enjoy!

Have a polar bear fan at your house? We found this cute – make your own bear!
